Sand Castles – Improvements

“Anyone who isn’t embarrassed of who they were last year probably isn’t learning enough.”
― Alain de Botton
My First somewhat successful sand castle(it’s more like a sand hut)
My second castle is taller but other than that is is definitely crap!

A few years ago in Florida, while we were still on the road I got into sand sculpting. I watched a few videos on YouTube. Then I stopped by Target and bought buckets and a shovel to begin. I would spend up to 7 hours on a sand castle just for it to tumble over right before I got a picture. Our RV was 50 ft from the beach so I would wake up every morning and make my way towards the sand. After about 4 days of failed attempts, I finally came up with something that resembles a sand castle. But more importantly than the castle, I figured out what was making my castle fall. Water, to make a sand castle the most important thing is water. The sand that you make the castle with has to be saturated with it to be strong. (well strong for sand) My next sand castle wasn’t much better than the first, but it took half the time because of the lack of falling sand. My next milestone sand castle was about a year later. We were settled down in Tyler when we decided to go on a vacation with our cousins to their beach house in Rockport my sand

The sandcastle I built in Rockport.

castle most definitely and improvement and actually looked like a castle. Just a week ago we took another trip to the beach, but this time to South Padre Island. There is a guy named Andy Hancock, who I got to take lessons from and hence my sandcastle level of awesomeness got exponentially greater. We made one with him which looked awesome, then my brother Sam and I built two more castle the second being our best.(Not including the one we did with Andy)
