A few years ago in Florida, while we were still on the road I got into sand sculpting. I watched a few videos on YouTube. Then I stopped by Target and bought buckets and a shovel to begin. I would spend up to 7 hours on a sand castle just for it to tumble over right before I got a picture. Our RV was 50 ft from the beach so I would wake up every morning and make my way towards the sand. After about 4 days of failed attempts, I finally came up with something that resembles a sand castle. But more importantly than the castle, I figured out what was making my castle fall. Water, to make a sand castle the most important thing is water. The sand that you make the castle with has to be saturated with it to be strong. (well strong for sand) My next sand castle wasn’t much better than the first, but it took half the time because of the lack of falling sand. My next milestone sand castle was about a year later.
